My first trip to Snowshoe, WVA….it snowed more than 5″ on Saturday and I played in the drifts, chased and lost 2 balls, and followed the deer into the woods at every opportunity. It was exhilarating to bounce through the fluff. Finally, Papa needed a nap after skiing so I cuddled on the big queen bed under the down comforter. Then MOM woke us up with my squeaky toy that Santa left in my stocking and left a bourbon and ginger for the Alpha Male in my life. Can’t wait to get back for Christmas holidays. Don’t tell Kevin but we stopped for ice cream on the trip home.
Oscar Goes Skiing

On Friday. Oscar will make his virgin trip to the mountains at Snowshoe, WV…he has studied the promotional info and has his puffy winter parka to keep him warm. He is still wondering about the FOUR hour drive with two cats in the truck. Papa and I will enroll him in Kids’ World for beginner lessons…he is asking for a pretty ski instructor and private lessons.

Beau, Asher, Todd, Kevin, Billy and Lou are resting before the rescue of Oscar….too much party in Richmond and Danville but they will be heading back to the Big Apple soon. The ball game in the Dan River was a highlight of the visit.

Because it appears inevitable that Oscar’s master is coming to reclaim his “child”, the hospitality of the South deems it appropriate that Oscar should have a going-away party. In the process of inviting all of his new friends in Danville, Papa and Oscar started the party early. Oscar says, Come join him for MILLER TIME!

Thursday, August 6th, 2009Kevin is heading South to rescue Oscar but Papa has requested a Guardian Ad Litem to review the deplorable conditions of his home life in Brooklyn….unmade bed, dirty dishes in the sink, beer bottles left on the roof deck, and strange women in his room. His prized possessions are packed but will he really leave the South where he can chase frogs, crickets, lightning bugs, and balls to his heart’s content? It’s been a GREAT VACATION.

It’s underage drinking since I am not quite 14 human years old but apparently, my master, Kevin, was drinking this brand at 15! He even has a scar in his eyebrow from it!

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009Down south in Caswell County, NC, we grow this amazing Amish variety of corn called Incredible. Oscar loves to husk the corn and then eat the kernels off the cob. He calls it “corn dog”.
On the Farm
Monday, July 27th, 2009It’s hot and humid every day but I work on the farm just like a migrant laborer….I even have my own hoe. Papa lets me ride inside “Mustard”, his old 1972 truck. I get to eat organic potatoes, eggplant, green beans, and squash and MOM shares her homemade chocolate cookies…don’t tell Kevin.

While visiting his grandparents in Virginia, Oscar attended basketball camp at North Carolina State University. Coach Sidney Lowe awarded him the Wolfpack bandana for Honorable Mention in Sportsmanship. GO WOLFPACK! (MY DAD MADE ME SAY THAT! I REALLY LOVE THOSE TARHEELS!)
